16 x 20 Mini Barn

I have one of the pre-built mini barns sold nationwide and want to heat it. I was looking at this Mr Heater. Would it be OK. The fact that the floor is wood not cement has me worried. Thanks. Jim

That unit doesn't get hot on the bottom, but if you are worried, set it on a cement paver.

9k btu isn't going to do much, but might warm you up if you keep it close.

if you want to warm the whole thing up, you'll need a lot more and insulation.

Heating with propane will generate a lot of humidity, fyi. Do you have 240v service? I have a 5kw heater that works decent to take the edge off in my garage. It also creates no risk of CO or humidity

I don't have 240. I did not know about the humidity. I was thinking more about taking the edge off the cold not really heating the whole barn. I had a small electric heater I would use near me while I worked and would move it when I moved. I just want something to kinda heat up the area. Over the work bench I have an infrared heater and that is good if I stay at the bench but does nothing away from the bench. Thanks. Jim

I've had a propane shotgun heater for years...works like a charm and will smoke you out of the garage in an hour on the coldest nights. The nice thing about it is that the outside casing stays cool to the touch… It burns clean, but I like to keep the windows open a crack. The propane is cheaper too as you can go to a propane supplier to get 20 or 40 lb cylinders refilled inexpensively. The propane lasts awhile, I tend to go through 40 lbs of propane a season if I do a lot of work in the garage.

It's also nice to have on hand for the occasional job where you need heat in a hurry...
