I installed 900+ square feet of VCT in my garage in 2007. I also bought a high speed polisher off of Craigslist and have put hours of care into the floor over the years. It is a garage and I have parked 3 to four cars in it over the years. A lot of tiles have been replaced over the last 16 years. No doubt there are floors you can install in your garage that would require less maintenance, but for me this has worked out well.
