16mm Wrench?

Just saying---I never seem to use this wrench, or socket.....and was just noticing as I tighten the bolts that hold all the "arms" on my little car. They still look new!

Anyone else?

Yeah, my Sears set had a 15 and 17, but no 16. I had to buy the 16 for an oil drain plug on someone's car.

Very common size fastener in german cars- starters, exhaust, so on. 3/8'' 16mm sockets probably have the most wear in my box.

Mine too. I have so many variations of tools in 16mm for that reason, even odd torque adaptors and special wrenches.

Common size of air fitting disconnects on european machinery -- I rarely use my socket, but I have a crowfoot, wrench, and line wrench that all see frequent use.

I misused one this weekend on a Mustang transmission crossmember. Wasn't paying attention to the bolt head, and discovered, after the fact this was another one of those spots where idiot engineers spec'd an SAE fastener, and it was really 5/8's.

Can't tell much difference between the 16mm and the 5/8 inch.
Like 19mm and 3/4" ?

I have several Chevy's, and one ford. Drain plug's are mostly 15mm, Wife's mini-van, my full size blazer is one of those "half'an'half'" rigs, so I may have never noticed. I've always used SAE tools when changing the oil.

It just seems like the only "even" wrench/socket I use is a 10 mm, then every other fastener is an odd size....13mm, 15mm, 17mm, 19mm, etc.

The drain plugs on fords 4.6/5.4 are 16mm.

I use 16mm all over the place on the fords at work.

Only every done any serious automotive work on Japanese vehicles (honda, Nissan mostly) and NEVER come across a 16mm. FWIW.

nissan have them but it around 2003/2005 they started using 13mm and 16mm
