So I'm curious. I have a gas, forced air HVAC unit. 4 ton unit I believe. Let's forget about any ROI with the better SEER, etc. If I get the 18SEER, it comes with a variable speed motor, but some pros believe those motors are more prone to issues, costly to repair, etc. They say best to stick with a 16SEER.
My unit is 25 years old. It's not broken, but i rarely get good air flow to the far bedrooms, etc. I'm not saying i want a new unit to solve that issue. That issue could be due to the labyrinth of duct work. My one question would be, will the variable speed make that better or worse?
Any thoughts?
