An alternate reality in a parallel universe.
I know this has been discussed here recently but today I got to live thru it. I had to replace the rear brakeline on my F250 crew cab long bed 4x4. Of course Ford coats/paints the brake line from the anti-lock control unit up near the radiator bulkhead, but as soon as the brake line gets past the engine going rearward its bare steel brake line. So of course the damn bare steel line rusted to a point it ruptured while my wife was driving it. Thankfully she was able to get it to stop.
So in replacing this brake line there is a junction point where the center body is .530" across its flats. Well none of my Snap On combo flare but wrenches will fit so I took out the old Mitutoyo dial caliper to measure it, there I find an odd ball size of .530".

This basically is either a 13.462mm or 16.96 32nds, so I rounded up so in knowing that this is an oddball what have you guys used on these? The coupling lines into this coupler are 1/4" steel line which uses 7/16" flare nut wrench. Who makes a wrench for this size?

There are 2 things I have done in the past that have worked. For minor differences I have been successful layering aluminum foil several layers thick around the nut and then manually pressing the wrench over them for a much tighter fit than without the aluminum foil. I have heard plastic shopping bags work as well, but I have not tried it before. That technique only really works for minor differences though.

For greater size gaps, rusted nuts, nuts that for one reason or another are not actually a true hex, etc. take a junk or spare feeler gauge set and press a few of the feelers into the gaps between the nut and wrench or else cut a few of the correct thickness feelers off and tape them or spray glue them temporarily to the inside flats of the flare nut wrench. Then you can make a rusty, rounded partially, out of true hex, or off size still fit and work okay as a one time thing.
