these pics are a little old. recently i found this cabinet on the side of the road. i cleaned it up, made a top out of 2x6 i had, put it on shopping cart casters i obtained, and mounted my drill press and grinder on it to make room on my tables. now i just wheel it out when i need it.

Looks like you got a great start on the garage as well as the tools.
When i was your age i only had my dads garage. Wasn't too bad, he let me use it whenever i wanted or needed it. I wound up taking it over up until the time i left the nest.

Good luck with it and keep the upgrades coming.

PS- You might want to upgrade the ceiling socket to a work box or double/4-way outlet.

You're off to a great start. Good idea to make that box into a cabinet and you did a nice job fixing up the cabinet you found

Real nice looking shop. Great job redoing that cabinet to make your grinder and drill press mobil. You are very fortunate to have a grandma that will let you use her garage that way.

Hi Drebs,

so far so: :rocker:

Of course, there is always room for improvement.
From what I can see, you seem to have a nice space (granny's 2-car is the best way to start, especially freedom- and cost- wise), enough storage for tools, boxes and benches, cabinets and such, so let the fun begin/continue.
What spared your garage desire?

Somehow, looking at it, I feel a little like the 50+ couple seeing a 20+ couple in a *******'s club and asking themselves what that young couple might do/ get the kick from 30 years down the road.
But don't worry, there is plenty of 'work' out there to have fun with.
Just keep on enjoying the good fun.;)

Happy for ya :D:thumbup:

Nice start. And what a great Idea for the small box. I have one on casters that is getting in my way also that will work great on the wall. Thanks for the idea!

yes i am definitely very fortunate to have such a supporting family. my grandma's husband is in the veterans hospital right now so i stepped up as the man of the house over there. he's given me all his tools and was the owner of that harley. my other grandfather is letting me borrow all the big power tools you see in my shop, and will leave all of his tools to me one day. he also always takes me to pick up craigslist and dumpster finds which is pretty frequent. my parents bought me my contractor's table saw for christmas last year so thats pretty awesome. all of my family members support me, so being a handy man im happy to do alot of small jobs and yard work for them in return.

Awesome, Drebs. Any skills you develop in that garage will help you later in life, for sure.

That's awesome Drebs. Sounds like a win win situation for you and your family.

It's nice to see someone your age take an interest in such things.
You have a head start on a lot of people twice your age.

Very cool! One of these days we need to set up a garage crawl tour in our respective areas. I'm seeing several in central/south Tx.
