How to participate: (AGAIN, This is a MUST READ, PLEASE !)
Secret Santa this year will again be only be for Senior members... Those who have over 100 posts.... (So if you are under and want to participate, get posting!)
There are two exceptions.
1. Alliance members in current good standing can join regardless of post count.
2. Those who are not senior members can participate by having two (2) senior members vouch for their character and belief that they are genuine in their fulfillment of their word and will send a genuine gift.
There are 5 KEY events you must do if you participate!
If you Ghost or Scrooge another member after committing, in the past you would not be welcome in GJSS again. It's been discussed and now the punishment could include a ban from GJ. We all know sometimes "Life Happens" - COMMUNICATE - to GJSS! We can help get others to step in. but going silent is no longer an option.
We would also like to clarify what the value of the gift should be..... There has never been a set monetary low or high limit.... What the gift should be is something that the member recipient should use, cherish and remember.... It is highly encouraged to read through your recipients posts and to try to figure out what he/she would use and enjoy.
Give what you can.... Give within your means.... If you have the means, then by all means...... I'll leave it at that....

1. Post here that you are in on this thread... THEN IMMEDIATELY!! Private Message (PM) GJSS with your name and your full address... If you say you are in, and we don't get a PM with your info, then you are not in!
2. On the 22th of November at 4PM PST entry for Secret Santa ends... Note! this is a Week Earlier than prior years to allow for shopping and shipping! We will gather all the participants names and put them in a hat and draw random names. Secret Santa's are not reciprocal, meaning the member you are Secret Santa for is not necessarily your Secret Santa (Completely random, so it may happen, and it has, rarely...). We will do our best to PM you back with who you are the Secret Santa for within two business days . NOTE: after so many years we are statistically certain to have a few get the same Victim as in a previous year - -I'm putting in a check to see if its a match for last year, so I can try to swap them around, but going back more than that gets tricky, and will slow the matching process - so please understand its the nature of many of the same participants over the years...
3. You should try your best to have your Secret Santa Gift to your recipient by the 20th of December OR SOONER. This being 2024, and and other things may impact! If there are delays, PM Secret Santa! so we can alert your victim.
4. Mark your parcel in some way with GJ Secret Santa so the member doesn't inadvertently open it. It is OK to include your name in a place so when the package is opened on Christmas, the person can know who it was from, OR you can do so anonymously - your choice!.
5. When you get your package, post a pic of it by the tree, upside down tree, menorah or what have you... But DO also mask any shipping labels...
6. The spirit of Secret Santa is to include all of our overseas and American continent neighbors.... However, If shipping to an overseas member would cause a financial hardship, please let us know when you send your PM.
7. When you get the name of your member, it may be helpful to review his/her posts and find their likes and dislikes. This can be exhausting and difficult, but it is also part of the fun!
8. When Christmas day comes, we post what our Secret Santa got us.
9. Make sure you PM Us (GJSS) with your address!! We cant do this without a full address, including your name........!!!!!!! PLEASE be sure to double check your address and Zip code! (Don't ask why...)
We will periodically list members who are participating and put an asterisk next to their name if we DO NOT have their info. If you don't have an asterisk by your name, then we have your shipping info.
******** What we ask is that if you do commit to this, then please follow through. If for some reason you decide or need to back out, let us know as soon as possible and arrangements can be made so someone isn't left out. Almost every year we have had people who cover for the one or two scrooges who committed to the event and then disappeared. ************
This is done with the spirit of giving in the holiday season, So we try to remember that we are doing pretty well considering the volume of members that do participate and have a great time, it is just a tiny few who make it difficult.

- Post I'm In! (or variants)
- PM your shipping address to GJSS
- Post that you sent your gift!
- Post when you receive your gift!
- Post your opened gift!
