I bought this breaker bar to try and replace the O2 sensor on my bmw. The head was to big to fit in the space I was working so I replacedf it with the ratchet head from this I had. The head fits the breaker handle really good, just remove the screw nd swap them. It was solid enough to remove my sensor.

Pretty cheap 3/8- 18" flex head ratchet. under 30$ if you use coupons.

I am pretty sure Im not the first to think and do this.

His picture is of the breaker bar with the ratcheting head from the double flexing ratchet installed... So its going to look different from what you purchased unless you get both and add the flex head to it like he did...

He, is me.
I meant the breaker bar photo on the website isnt the same as the one i used. the one online shows the flex head with only 1 prong on the flex end. And the one needed, has two prongs on the end of the handle. sorry for the confusion.

Its suppose to look like this one but 3/8

The op reminded me of a story that I heard long ago; around the early 1950's, seems that a lot of chemical sprayers (I think the echo co.) were selling like hot cakes in southern California and the company could not figure out why so many were being sold.

Turns out some landscaper took apart the chemical unit and used the rest as a blower to clean up the sidewalks and the rest is history... Guys have been tinkering with tools & Machines since the dawn of time.

Can you post the part number from the dual prong 3/8" breaker bar?
The HF by me only had the single prong 3/8" breaker bar.

I used a 24" 1/2 breaker bar. Had to modify it slightly but it works well

Devilsnight, what modification did you perform to get the 3/8" head to work on the 1/2" breaker bar? Could you post a picture?

Thanks.....

I did the same. It worked out great but I needed a very thin washer to shim the head in the breaker fork slot.

The breaker bar kd4gij posted will not work.

The one in the first post is the correct item #66388 only the photo is different model. You need #66388 because it has the 2 prongs and a spring-ball bearing to lock the flex head into position. the one kd4gij will just leave the head flopping loose

I was going to do that, but the screw for the breaker bar was too big for the hole in the ratchet head. Didn't feel like drilling tool steel.

I ended up adding another section to the indexible ratchet and welded the sections straight.

Thanks NoNN37 for the correct part number. Did you have to drill out the head of the ratchet as was described by the OP?

No drilling. It fits fine. I did end up putting a really thin washer as suggested by PT Doc.

Ok, thanks. Will be going to a different HF this weekend in the hopes that they have everything in stock.

Thanks everyone for sharing. I already have the breaker bar and that flex ratchet, but never thought of doing this.
