1878 ratcheting screwdriver

So I have been out and about this weekend , bought some cool things , double ended cresent ,lots of hammers, wrenches, sockets, a kobalt top box full of tools,traded 50 bucks worth of coffee for a bowflex proand all the attatchments.
Not a bad weekend all in all, But then today I found this 1878 gay ratcheting screwdriver for 25 bucks, I had to have it! definitely the topper for a good weekend. it still works, forward and reverse! How friggin cool is that?

That thing is cool. I've never encountered one quite that early, but if I ever do, I'll own it. Still working after 130+ years, sweet.

when I seen its age on the tag I was on the unbelieving side just because I was confident they didnt have ratcheting tools back then, but I bought it anyway, got her home and one of our members here helped find the patent (210,942) and now I love it even more!

I have an Ohio Tool works coffin plane that dates to about 1890 or so but its just a simple block of cut wood.

That screwdriver is really neat and looks to be in great condition considering the age. I'll have to keep an eye out on vacation this year for any really old tools in Cape Cod. There are plenty of old barns and houses to rummage through out there.
