I already have quite a few 18V Milwaukee tools, some are FUEL line, others not and I've been happy with both. I'm doing some remodeling and a battery sawzall would have came in handy a couple times instead of my dragging out the corded saw. I have to get into the crawl space to cut out some 3" pipe and run some other pipe and do not want to drag the electric saw down with me. It looks like Milwaukee has the regular and Fuel versions. I was leaning further toward the Fuel version but the 2 closest stores to me, 40 & 50 minutes away do not have the Fuel in stock. Do any of you guys have either of them and if so, could you recommend for or against it? Keep in mind, it's not something I'll use more than a few times a year. It will get used a decent amount for the next 6 weeks while I do some remodeling, but it might sit unused for 6 months after that.

If you have a corded saw to handle heavy work I may lean towards the non fuel version, but the upgrade in performance and little cost diference I would likely just order the fuel saw online unless you need it today

I have the m18 fuel, the non fuel, AND the m18 hackzall... They are all very good. The reg m18 sawzall is a very capable tool.. Just no adjustinable shoe on the front.. You will like either of them

Since you already have a large corded one, I would say go for the one handed Hackzall. That one handed saw is going to be real handy in that crawl space!

I will look at it too, but after looking at the website, the 18v version is not in stock at my local store either. I'm MOST likely going tomorrow evening if the wife feels ok. She's almost 7 months pregnant and hasn't been feeling too good the last few days so I've had to spend more time looking after the little one.

I sold off every NON-FUEL M18/M12 power tool after comparing the two designs. The NON-FUEL power tool kits were purchased for the batteries, chargers and whatever freebies the promos offered. IME the NON-FUEL M18s perform fine but just not as well as FUELs. The difference is more significant with the M12 NON-FUELs.

Fuel all the way. Brushless is such a superior design and in 10 years the motor will still run like new. If you are like me and buy for the long haul then fuel will be stronger and last longer. plus you get to enjoy the superior tool.

Went to my nearest Home Depot and they only had 1 Non Fuel in stock and no Fuel Sawzalls at all... That made my decision much easier. Gave it a quick try tonight and it seemed fine, but it will get more of a workout tomorrow evening and this weekend.

Well, just to give an update. I've given it a pretty good workout the last few days. I've got out a bunch of 2x4's, headers, etc that are nail embedded, lots of pipe, flooring, sheetrock, you name it, I cut it. I have used it on the ground, laying on my back in the crawl space and on a ladder with no issues. It has seen everything from short metal blades to long demolition blades from various manufacturers and they have all been fine.

Battery lift has been better than I expected. The sawzall seems a bit heavy to me compared to my electric one, but works really well. I have noticed a big drop in power over my electric Makita that is quite a few years old either. I'd say the times I break it out over this one will be very minimal. Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase and have no regrets.
