good deal for a homeowner who won't use them daily.

:headscrat

I use mine all the time and have no problems what so ever. I have built my set up to 10-12 different tools I like them so much. I also know a few contractors that use the Ryobi line and never had any problems.

Just wondering if you had any problems or why you think they wouldn't be any good for daily use

I've seen a few die on the job, my brother is an electrician, he tells stories about cheapo tools he sees apprentices bring on the job. Obviously they last for a while, but at the same time, they are obviously not pro grade tools. He's a metabo nut and has been on the same set with the same batteries for years, and many people go through multiple sets of big box junk on one job(a few months typically)
