The Garage Journal is very much to blame for this project. Three years ago I added on to my attached garage, turning a standard 2-car garage into a 6-car work shop. This summer we added a pool, and I decided I'd test my building skills and build a "pool house".
This is an 18'x32' 2-story building on a monolithic slab. The first floor will be partitioned off between storage of pool stuff, garden tractor, yard equipment, etc and a finished entry way near the man door. The upstairs is going to be completely finished in T&G pine and will be a party room for entertaining guests in the summer.
All of the design and work has been done by me. Mostly me alone, but I've had help from friends recently with the second floor and roof (thank goodness!).
Hauled the lumber with my car trailer:
First floor framed:
On to the second floor. I made a jig on the upstairs floor to make trusses in. Used it for end walls too. Truss framing is 2x6's with OSB gussets glued and nailed.
View from the dormer window:
Front side is roofed:
And that's where I stand today. I started this project exactly one month ago. I'm hoping to have it sided and the outside finished up before the snow flies. It will be sided to match the house.
Hope you guys enjoy. I will update as progress continues.
