I don't know about the door brand, but as far as an opener, I have a Liftmaster/Chamerlain 3800 that mounts on the end of the torsion bar. I love it! It is the quietest, smoothest opener I've ever owned and has nothing hanging over the door. I use it on a 16X8 door but the instructions say it will work on an 18' door.

I bought it from an eBay dealer for under $300 and had it in 3 days.

You will need to get the specs for whatever door you use for the rough opening dimensions. You may be all right with an 18x8' rough opening then adjust the dimensions with framing and trim.

Make sure you use a good header beam. I have seen a lot of wide door frames sag...

Amarr makes a great garage door we use them exclusively. As far as the opening you will always want your finished opening the same size as the door. Rough opening will always depend on what your facial boards will be.

The opener doesn't really matter as the springs will be adjusted so that the weight seen by the opener is the same as any other door. You'll need to make sure the opener will work with an 8' tall door though or that there is an extension kit available for taller doors.

I have an 18x11(high) door. I bought a commerical trolly lift for just over $300. Made by chamberlain. I had to special order it from a overhead doors. The trolly track is 12ft, so it will work with a tall door. They make a shorter track (& cheaper) opener that will work with you 8ft height.

I looked at the lift master, but it was not rated to work with my size door.
