Hi all,

Moved into a new house last June and finally got both cars in the garage in December after doing a lot of construction. New Kitchen, Central Air, new electrical service and new outlets. I want to add storage in the garage but I don't know if I have enough room to do that with two cars, motorcycle, snowblower, etc. The measurements are 21 feet deep by 19 feet wide. Does anyone have a similar setup and can get both cars in the garage? My ceilings are pretty high so I have height to put shelves or cabinets. Let me know your thoughts....

Geoff

i can squeeze 2 into my 19x22. but it's very tight fit.

anything that doesnt have to be on the floor is up on shelves or in the rafters.

unfortunately most everything has to be on the floor....:(

my off road truck stays inside all the time, (no place to park it otherwise), my harley, tools, equipment and toolboxes.

Is a back or side shed an option. I can't say enough how helpful it would be. Also is the BBQ always in there or could it go on a side or back deck? Those little changes will answer all your problems. I have a similar size garage and there is a good amount of room in there with two cars. The landing and stairs also take a bunch of floor space. Could you shrink them down a bit?

I'm going to have to jump on the same band wagon and recommend with your square footage being worth much alternative storage is key. Check for attic space, storage high on wall, put yard stuff in shed, explore least expensive highest square foot pay out first, like shed or yard then attic ladder

I have a 19x22, sometimes I park two cars inside, but usually only the car I'm working on, the truck won't fit at all. The trick is keeping anything that's not essential to the garage someplace else, I have a 10x12 shed that holds everything not car related and lots of spare car parts in totes.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the replies, the grill is only there for the winter as I didn't want to see the Weber out in the elements for NE winters. Right now a shed is out of the question as the backyard is pretty small and full of boulders but its on the list for future projects. The yard tools will go this year as I have a landscaper now. I think I will take the advise of seeing what is above the ceiling and replacing the current shelves with cabinets.

Second to the cabinets would be better lighting and making the garage doors fit a little tighter.

I get 2 cars (mid size sedans) in my 17x19. Maximizing the ceiling and wall space will be your best friend. My grille takes up a good bit of the floor space and I have aspirations of getting it out of the garage. You will just have to spend some time working on an arrangement that will allow you to get your cars in there. Like I said getting a lot of the little stuff up on the wall and the ceiling will help considerably.

The weber will be fine outside! I grill with mine all year in NY. In my last house I had an 18x20 garage and built a loft for storage, but still did not park two cars in it. I was tapped out of space between the car and 4 wheeler and yard equipment. I was going to go the shed route but moved instead!

That is the same grill I have, I will leave it out there next year.

I was looking at my roof today and I think the previous owner brought the ceiling up as high and she could so I didn't think there will be too much storage space above the finished ceiling. I will take some measurements this weekend to see what size boxes i can fit on the wall. It will finally be over 32 degrees this weekend so I will be able to spend some time out there without literally freezing!

I would never leave any other brand grill outside as it will rot out. I had this one for 4 years now and still works and looks like new.
Good luck! I'm hoping to get to clean my garage out soon too. It has been sub zero for the past few months and finally starting to warm up!
