Hi all-
I'm helping my dad clean out some *treasures* and came across a 1915 Weaver Auto Ambulance Dolly. I'm having trouble finding anything online that would help me set a value or a range of values. Anyone have expertise on these things?? Thanks!

Here is one of my favorite vintage Weaver adds. The artist does a really good job of portraying the ambulance in this folksy drawing. Probably a little optimistic in some of the claims (25mph on rough roads) and I doubt many survived more than a few trips....As to value I do have a few vintage Weaver garage items and have never paid very much for them. This has the disadvantage of being fairly bulky and not realistically useful. I did see one for sale for a couple hundred several years ago but I'm not sure what it actually sold for. Probably just need the right collector who still needs one. it is a very neat piece of early automotive equipment. Ed. (On edit: A search does turn up a few for sale with a low of about $600 up to a very high 2k.)

I'm sure there is interest in your auto ambulance even though it is already modified. Might not be tool far gone to restore. That is likely one of the earlier ones with all steel wheels. Later model wheels had a thin layer of rubber laminated to them. Much quieter. I picked one up at a swap meet this summer but haven't done much with it yet. I think they're pretty cool. Here are a few pics and a couple adds. Ed.

Excellent information, thanks. I finally figured out what i have and it is the original carrier and steel wheels but it has a steel angle added to it and a third steel wheel. I think they made to move full 55 gallon drums they would lower a 55 gal drum onto the cradles then be able to roll them around the shop or garage.... dont think i want to make a coffee table out of it anymore. I think ill try and fi d a buyer for the carrier and wheels since are definitly worth restoring. Someone is needing it but they dont know i have it :) no to find a good place to post it. Tha ks for your response

...and didn't report it on the Garage Sale thread! :)

I know right! I put posting it on hold for a bit while I got caught up with everything else going on and just about forgot about it. I need to find or fab a suitable cradle for it. It was reportedly still in use taxiing small planes into hangers until recently and I have the adapter for that. Ed.

That's a terrific find, Ed. Might have vied for one of my awards! Just sayin'

Thanks Lugz, The auto ambulance was one of the better things I picked up at that swap meet. It was the same swap where I found those defrosters in the green boxes and because I picked up those I got into a conversation with the great guy who sold me a Plomb tool mobile. That was a dang good haul and to think I was just almost that close to a coveted award consideration....:) :) :bounce:
