I'm not a SO guy, but I do love old stuff like that.

Just wondering how many people would shell out that many clams for it, other than the ******** SO collectors like snapmom and chad s.

The price range on these 450-850 depends on condition, and how many collectors want it that day.

I couldn't ever justify spending that much on such an item. It doesn't contain any of the original tools, which would be 70% of the idea to begin with and worse then that the enclosure itself is quite mangled in areas.

I am not a SO fan either but for antique value I would say it wasn't out of line. Doubt I will ever see another one and at $750 shouldnt be to hard to get that money backout of it.

I have seen a couple on eBay and I don't even look for them.

Guess I am not looking for them hard enough. Not that I knew they were even available. Still for the age, name, display, etc I would say it wasn't a bad deal. Still dont think I would buy one unless it was a killer deal at a local auction.

I was thinking that I don't know how popular tool collecting is, or what's the average resources available to someone who does collect tools (it may be high for all I know), but I can imagine it being a lot higher if it were a Sotheby's type of crowd. Can you imagine if all of a sudden there were enough people interested in vintage tools to start bidding up things way past what we see today....dunno, just a somewhat inarticulate thought :wtf:

This box came with a sort of top to it, a three sided skirt, only maybe a couple have shown up with the skirt, but none in very good condition. These boxes are hard to find in very good condition. A near mint one would bring in a lot of bidders.
