Going to the well for advice. I checked the other posts I could find and still think I should put this out there.

I'm not happy about this but I need to sell my lathe. Before I purposely under-price it, I figured I should at least try to get a handle on a price range for what it's worth. I've seen two online, one for <$1,000 and one for $2,000. I don't really care what the number is, I just need to know what it should be.

While it doesn't look to have a lot of wear, and I got it from a good friend, frankly I might not have the sophistication to really know what the wear is. I've taken it completely apart twice to move it and the one pic shows I'm getting ready to make something. I also thought I could make a YouTube video showing how the end of that aluminum rod shows no runout when spinning. Or maybe that's not a good test.

TIA. Hoping I can attach the pics easily. Some sites make that harder than others.

We're in coastal GA, an hour south of Savannah, an hour north of Jacksonville, 4 1/2 east of Atlanta. I don't have the time to consider shipping so it'll be what it'll be. Thanks.

That's going to put the value around $1K or lower. Machine tools are pretty common in that part of the country and there are going to be much more capable machines available in the $1.5K to $2K range. Your market is going to be someone with a tight budget or a fondness for that particular model.

This is great info. Thank you so much. I need to put a stake in the sand and work from there and this is very helpful!

Psikora, keep doing research, and see what kind of machines you can buy in your area for $1,500. If the ones selling for $1,500 are about the same quality as yours, then there is your price comparison.

No quick change gear box, basic tooling I'd think $1000 is the high end. I see SB9A which are much more capable selling in the $1000-2000 range, but as mentioned local area can impact prices.

Looks like a short bed model which to me is a plus because it puts it in a similar size class but more capacity to an Atlas 618, or one of the import 7-8" mini-lathes, so it will interest people with tight shop spaces. Those with more room have lots more choices and tend to want a QC gearbox.

put it up for $1,000 and take the first offer of $500 or more.

Or it could be good trade fodder if you have the time for people's lying ********.
