It's usually the last two numbers stamped behind the "Craftsman" badge, I'm sorry I cant read it in your picture. It should be something like 45 to 59 or 60.

No I looked and didn't see any numbers at all. I've looked all over the internet and can't see to find anything about it or similar boxes

1949 Mechanic's Catalog, pg 26. Perfect match. the '48 catalog doesn't have a picture of it down, so hard to say if it is the exact same. It is the roller that came with the large tool kit on the first page of the catalogs.

Here are the rest of them

Rose Tools Scanned Catalog Archives (Sears)

Rose Tools put an extraordinary amount of time and effort into scanning the catalogs amassed here. While the website hosting this resource has been taken down, Rose Tools has given permission to host them here. Donna Rose Allen still maintains an active website devoted to quality new and old tools.
A complete listing of the scanned catalogs is also archived.

Awesome! I'd love to find the top box for it. What's the value on something. Like this?

I'd say it's worth somewhere between $200-300 to the right buyer. These don't come up that often and they only appeal to certain buyers. Most of the market wouldn't pay $100 for it, but those who like this old Cman stuff would likely pay more.

I've yet to come across one of these in decent condition and would certainly pay $200 for one. Nice find!

Here is my stack. Total spend, 50 bucks plus the cost of materials to restore the roller. Mine is early 50s though. Finding Cman boxes from the 40s and earlier is certainly a rare event.
