I had picked up a vintage 14-inch Delta bandsaw a few weeks ago, and finished my restoration today. It started out as just the basic saw with no motor or stand. After taking it all apart, I found it only needed the main shaft bearings and some smaller pieces to get it up to task, so I decided to paint the whole thing and have some fun with it.
The main shaft bearings are those rare extended race type, but I got some NOS off the auction site. Installation was easy, and they run super smooth.
Painted everything with Rustoleum (mostly Professional). Wire wheeled all the hardware and refitted all the tiny stuff. Tires were in good shape and only needed a buff on the wire wheel as well.
For a stand I re-purposed an old Craftsman table saw stand, and added a pair of channel struts to mount the saw and motor. Painted it black as well as the saw's table.
Motor is a 1/2hp with a unique spring loaded pulley that offers a speed range of 2.5:1. Bolted to an old table saw motor mount, I can swing the motor to vary the speed and lock it at any point. Works incredibly well and very quiet.
I've only tested a few boards so far, but I am very pleased with the results. Looks very cool in the garage too!
