I need some help identifying what the original logo looked like on these jack stands. Unfortunately, I cannot make out what's left of the original label and all I have found is the original patent document. I do know that they were red originally and that the background of the original label was yellow. The original label *appears* to be painted.

Does anyone have any info on these things? Anything you have will be much appreciated.

Here is one more picture of the logo/label. You can make out letters here and there but not much else.

I think it may be a Walker, made in Racine, Wisconsin

Can't help on the ID, but the logo *might* have been a decal instead of painted.

The bottom is missing they had a flat plate on the bottom. They were
very common when I started as a young mechanic but I haven seen
any for long time. I can't remember the maker but they were made
so your air hose would not get caught on the sides and would
slide around them.

The set came without the flat plate bottoms, which ***** because it will be very hard to find a pair. They still work great but I would love to have the original logo design to put back on them after restoration.

Thanks for the info thus far.

Thanks crackit. I've looked through all of the GarageJournal posts before starting my own thread.

I searched the Internet for information on the patent holder and various brand searches which do turn up images of these jack stands. Unfortunately, no one has an example with the label.

Thus far, I am leaning towards Walker being the manufacturer. I'm trying to see if Racine, Wisconsin could have been present in the label using the few letters that still remain.

J.J. Mizer is the patent holder. It was issued in 1940 and the pat. ID is D122574

Thanks to all who have responded. Any shred of information is appreciated.

After some digging around, a guy that I know told me that what I have is a set of Ajax Silver Horse 2 ton jack stands.

I threw that term into Google and sure enough, it landed me right back here. Four years ago, someone had the logo linked up via an Ebay auction but that picture is long gone.

One step closer I suppose.

Mystery solved, folks. This is the label that should be on my jack stands. All I have to do is get a picture and dimensions over to the local sign shop and I will be able to finally finish this restoration.

It is for sure a Walker. I grew up in Racine and still live nearby. I have the same jack stand that was one of many that my father had at the dealership. Walker would drop off jacks, jack stands, etc. for test purposes. I had a very large Walker floor jack but traded it off to a friend for a smaller unit. I also have a small screw jack that was made by Walker.
The factory is long gone. I am not even sure if the exhaust division is still in operation somewhere, maybe just in name by another manufacturer.

And at the end of this small restoration adventure, sure enough, these guys are Walker jack stands as pointed out.

I've attached a picture of the finished restoration.

IH: are you planning on using them, sticking them in a display in your man cave or selling them? no matter what you do i'd say any of those options are doable, but i'd probably keep them and put them on display.

WELL DONE

Thanks everyone. This set will simply be a display on my rack in the shop. I have a second set, complete with the square floor plates, that I plan on cleaning up and putting into service.

Do you have photos of those that you could share?

I picked up this pair yesterday. They have the base plates as well, obviously. They're welded on in four places, with inch long welds. The lever on one of the stands moves in ways it shouldn't, so I'd like to look inside and see what needs fixing, but the base plates don't allow that. I am tempted to cut the welds to get inside and dangle the base in the electrolysis bucket while making repairs, then welding it back on. Probably not tomorrow, but something fun to look forward to.

Yep, here is one of my two that look the same as yours. The bottom is also the same but I don't have a picture of that.
