I just picked this up last week and I wanted to make sure that this is not an "Industrial Finish" before I start cleaning it up.

Any recommendations on how to clean it up would be appreciated.

For chrome ratchets, I usually use Purple Power and a brass toothbrush.

That has a nice look to it. Plain steel finish I think. It doesn’t seem to need much cleaning. A little dirt in the crevices? Maybe a cloth and a little polish after. Some people get carried away with making things that aren’t chrome look like chrome.

I finally got it apart without ruining the screws. I don't think it had been taken apart since 1944 when it was made. I had to remove multiple layers of dry hard crud four times before it cleaned up. Multiple soakings. I am pleased with the turnout. I love that it is "E" marked.PXL_20250331_153912898.jpg
