1948 Craftsman Grinder with Multitool rebuild.....FINISHED!

Here she is.....multitool attachment is awesome. Had to make some custom brackets and table to run it vertical and on the opposite side, but it rocks!

Man, I have no idea. Didn't see anything on the tag other than craftsman.

I believe they were made by Packard Electric. Cool setup you've accomplished there! The wheel shroud and eye shield would sell quickly online. Those things are difficult to find complete.

I've got them painted and buffed ready to go. When I get a few bucks I'm going to move the belt to a larger grinder and put a blue wheel on this one.

Make sure the larger grinder is the same rpm (about 3450). Many of the larger grinders, 8"-10", run at a slower speed (about 1750).

If you look at the third picture you see a tracking tab for the belt. If it is on the right side, it hangs out over the disc and I thought it may get in the way if I had something larger I needed to get in there.

I have mine on the left as well. I like it vertical so if you want to use the platen it has to be on the left.

If still around, how'd you find the belt on the 1/3 hp? I've got one on a 3/4 hp grinder now but wondering if I can down-size.
