That's sweet. I've had a ton of old bench grinders, but never seen one of those in person yet. Maybe one of these days.

I believe they were made by Packard Electric. Cool setup you've accomplished there! The wheel shroud and eye shield would sell quickly online. Those things are difficult to find complete.

I've got them painted and buffed ready to go. When I get a few bucks I'm going to move the belt to a larger grinder and put a blue wheel on this one.

Make sure the larger grinder is the same rpm (about 3450). Many of the larger grinders, 8"-10", run at a slower speed (about 1750).

Very nice!

What made you decide to mount the belt on the left side vs the right?

If you look at the third picture you see a tracking tab for the belt. If it is on the right side, it hangs out over the disc and I thought it may get in the way if I had something larger I needed to get in there.

I have mine on the left as well. I like it vertical so if you want to use the platen it has to be on the left.

Interesting - seems like it really wants to be on the left side then.

If still around, how'd you find the belt on the 1/3 hp? I've got one on a 3/4 hp grinder now but wondering if I can down-size.
