What do you think this 1948 delta drill press is worth in today's market? Has foot pedal, Dunlap motor, but lacks a switch.

Does not having the original Delta motor detract from value much? The Dunlap seems solid.

Sell the foot feed separate.
Probably $4-500 that way.
Add a couple hundred if it has the middle pulley.

The bigger DP600's are going for around $150-250 in the Chicago area (I sold mine last year for $100). I would not pay more than $100-150 for a DP220. The foot control is nice, so maybe that adds a few bucks. And if yours has the Slo-Speed front pulley it would certainly be easier to sell. The Dunlop motor wouldn't bother me, but if the special spindle bearings are still original I would probably pass on any deal.

I bought one in Portland about 5 years go for $150. No foot control, worn chuck which I replaced, non-original but good 1/2 hp motor. Machines tend to be a bit more expensive here than back in NY where the same D/P in similar condition would probably go for about $100.

Photo (1) of DP and info on the your DP is pretty vague so hard to tell you more.

A big factor in price/value for a 220 is the condition of the spindle bearings and runout. In my experience they don't hold up too well compared to other DP's. The Homecraft HDP 125 version holds up better to wear. How's the bearings and runout on your DP?

The foot pedal alone would sell for more than the DP. The Dunlap motor is pretty small 1/3HP

The demand for DP in your local will greatly effect value.

What is the value of any old thing? Something is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. If I was looking for one to restore my going in price would be $50-$100. An arc of shame reduces it to the low end. Others can value or pay whatever they want. I won't argue value of any old thing with anybody.

My caution to the uninitiated, if you buy an old tool make sure it is complete as well as repairable and enough of it there to make it ready for restoration. If it needs parts you could end up paying more for some small part than you paid for the entire machjne. Use caution.

I sold a DP220 dated 1944 a year ago, perfect working order, complete with the belt guard, for $80.

You could have got more than that for the belt guard by itself.

The OP needs to understand machines prices vary by region. The foot pedal is a big add IMO. The Dunlap motor could be considered a detractor depending on age. No switch is also a negative. I'd think $300-$400 depending on area but I'll admit I'm unfamiliar with how much the foot pedal will add. It could be considerable.

I have a working relationship with a Haitian store manager where I buy used tools. I sold it to him, he ships the tools back to Haiti and has a woodworking shop where he provides employment and services. I didn't need to get top-dollar for it. He's given me good pricing on things I buy. Prior to selling it to him, I had seen on-here where the belt guard was often missing on these, and that it was a pricey piece. It's not-always about the money.

Bryan, Just picked up a similar dp220 with the foot feed and morticing head.
Donor foot feed.jpg
Machine had clean unmarked table and the foot feed. Non original 1/3 hp Delta motor. Rest of the machine pretty unremarkable Delta 220. Paid fair price of $250. I was after the foot feed. Will remove the FF and add to other press and move the donor machine on for $150-200. Should sell quickly in my Ohio area.
Yours looks to be a decent machine, possibly with the slow speed pulley cover, but the lack of Delta motor would be a $50-75 hit for me. Original on/off switch for your machine should have been on the motor pecker head and had push/pull rod to the front of the belt cover. Plenty of good info on rebuilding over at the OWWM web site.
Here's the machine that received the foot feed transplant.

I sold a Dunlap motor about 8 years ago by itself for $80. Parting out the foot pedal separately is a good idea. I would be very surprised if that drill press, as it stands, sold for less than $200 here in the northeast today.

Thanks all! I bought mine as a project/keeper long ago and it's one of three drill presses I own, the others being a vintage craftsman 15" floor model and a massive DP220 bench top.

Need to move out of my 3,600 sq. ft. house (to a townhouse possibly) so I need to get rid of two of three drill presses. I'm going to keep the DP220 bench top.

DM me if you're local and need a drill press.
