Hello,

I am inquiring about information regarding a shaper machine made by Porter Cable; pre-Logan buy-out in the 1950's. With all the research I have been able to acquire into this piece of machinery there are only a handful of examples still in existence today.

The best guess the family has is it is a 1948 Porter Cable AS-7 Shaper (metal). It is in working condition and what appears to be the original paint. If possible, I would like more information about this shaper.

My father passed away and the family hasn't a need for most of the shop. Although the machine is for sale (essentially the whole shop is too), we would like to try and locate a buyer who is interested in using it or owning it rather than it just go to the scrap yard. It was his pride and joy and it ran on a nearly daily basis to shape odd pieces of metal to be used in his various projects. Enclosed are pictures of the machine from each angle, and the serial number which appears to be #367, but zooming in shows the 3 is offset from the 67.

Thank you.

I'd potentially be interested. The pictures are too small to see what the condition is, also it would be good to know your location.

The machine is located about 60 miles south of Bozeman, Montana. I posted a PM to you with my email address. I will try to do something with these pictures to make them larger, or embed the code.

If anyone needs more information I can send them an email with video. Send me a PM with your email address and we can go from there. Sorry for this to be complicated, I do not know how to make the pictures larger or embed a video of the machine running.

<param name="FileName"value="Running.wmv">
<param name="autostart" value="false">

<param name="ShowDisplay" value="false">
<embed type="application/x-mplayer2" src="videofilename.wmv"
width="192" height="190" ShowControls="1" ShowStatusBar="0" ShowDisplay="0" autostart="0" />
</object>
