My dad has a 1950s or early 1960s era "Rocket" hammer, it got a brown rubber handle, chrome steel shaft and a medium-weight standard head. It's his favorite hammer, he uses it for everything and it lasts and lasts and lasts. I can't see a maker on the side of it anywhere. Has anyone else seen this hammer type? Who made it? More info? Thanks...

I don't have a pic of his hammer, it's 300 miles from here. However I kinda answered my own question by looking on eBay. Here's a pic, the one on the left. Other auctions have this listed as a "True Temper" tool, so I guess that answers it.

Yep,...
I remember seeing that model growing up in the '70s, on my dad's workbench. ---It's probably still around.

My "problem" is: I've got a few, already! -more not shown.

I can still see it, I worked Construction with a guy named Tuppy, up north in Gaylord MI in 1990.
He had one that had a black handle. Is the "Rocket" on the handle or shaft.

The "Rocket" and the rocket ship is molded into the rubber handle. I like the handle material much better than the softer rubber types, like Craftsman has on their fiberglass shaft hammers. The Rocket handles wear better without chipping.

funny i was just looking at my dad's (he's passed on to the hardware store in the sky sadly) Rocket hammer today, i used it to fix something around the house i grew up in just the other day, the same house my mother still lives in and where he first taught me how to swing that very hammer as a kid... somehow i smiled even though i got a bit choked up.... ahh the things we remember

There is a rocket hammer floating around here somewhere. Very nice hammer and it great shape for it's age. I haned looked it over in the pass and all I could every find was rocket stamped on it.

I think the "True Temper" was either stamped very lightly in the side of the head (and wears off very easily) or there was only a TT sticker on the hammer originally, and you know how hard use and stickers work together. Guess that's why I referred to it as a Rocket hammer, and not a TT Rocket hammer.

Bought a used one in the late 70's from a fellow construction worker who was hard up for some cash. Bought another in the early 80's from some thrift store. Still have em, and they are the "go-to" hammers in my box. They are just as good as it gets, IMO
