I've been looking for a '55 Nomad for several years. I have found many, just not "The" car.

Try http://www.trifive.com if you haven't already. I'll keep my eyes out for one. What would you consider to be the perfect car for your needs?

I suggest Car Shows. There are plenty of cars for sale. Take some time and get to know the market. Also, there are things to avoid like Bondo and other shortcuts that you learn about as you look at cars and talk to enthusiasts. Hands on experience is very useful. Prices are down, you should be able to buy a good car for half of what the owner has in it.

 When I was young my parents took me to the Chevy Nomad Convention every summer, all over the country. Here is a painting of my fathers '57 Nomad:

I suppose it is Sea Foam Green, but I've always called it turquoise. It has been garaged for the past 30 years, but it was intentionally left out to let snow accumulate on it for the painting. The painting in person is absolutely incredible. Here is a photo from the same day:

to resurrect an old thread ...

That beautiful '57 Nomad's color is Tropical Turquoise

I had a '57 Bel Air 2Dr HDTP when I was a kid in the '70s, came from San Antonio, TX. Completely rust free - stripped it down to bare metal before having it re-painted. I worked at an auto body wholesaler at the time, and custom mixed the Sherwin Williams acrylic enamel fro the 1957 paint formula books that we still had! Had a custom paiter do the new paint job (cost $1200 in 1976!). SW had just came out with their Polisol (sp?) hardner, and the paint looked wet years afterwards. Traded it for a big block (427) '69 Vette - wish hat I had them both now!
