This company made those compressors with attached engines. The engines were very large single cylinder units that were either Diesel of Gas fueled. The horsepower may have bee 25 or more. The company name has had a few changes over the years. I think their biggest competition may have been Ingersoll Rand.
A collector of old and interesting machinery in this area has an Ingersoll that looks like your picture. He bought it from the Ford Assembly plant that was in Burnaby, BC at Kingsway and McKay. My 1940 Ford may have been assembled there. One of the missing clues is the missing "V" in the serial number. The "V" was stamped into the serial number to show the build location. I was tole it may have been later than 1940 when the "V" was included. Interesting side note. The frame for my '40 has the serial number in 3 places. One of the locations shows the "V".
This assembly plant built other Ford machines, mostly trucks.
The Ford assembly plant was still standing when we bought our home about 15 blocks south of the plant. The only persons in the plant worked in the office. I understand the assembly shop was used for a parts warehouse. The Ford Flathead V8 in my 1940 is C69A Canadian. The engine was sold to a commercial fire pump builder here in Burnaby.
