Hey everyone, so I went back to my now favorite pawn shop.. I've posted a couple of my finds over on the garage sale thread and I was going to post this there however there's going to be too many pics and I didn't want to hijack the thread.
This box came full of tools also and I'm able to see and identify most but also am going to post pictures of some of the tools for identification and that's another reason I didn't want to post it in the other thread.
So I asked the guy at the shop "how much to get this old crusty box out of his way" and he said $160, I asked if that included everything inside, he said yes, I said I'll be back later.
So I had a ps3 with some games at home that I haven't played in a couple years so I erased it, cleaned it up, threw it and all the games in a box and went back. He valued my items at $100 and we agreed I'd pay him $50. Although the return on the game system and games was a major hit.. They always are, you never get anything close to what you pay for back in video games. Plus I bought all that used years ago so it is what it is, I count this as a box I paid $50 for.
Now for pics of the box..

And here's pics of every drawer with what was inside once I got it home.

First thing I did was take everything out of the box and "organize" them in piles on my work bench. Here's a pic of everything out.
4ab8fa859db6eb2d450bade771765e64.jpg
Then last night I cleaned all the insides of the drawers with decreased to get the gunk out. Then I had drawer liner but only enough for the first two drawers. I have to get some more to finish but then I started sorting. I threw all the no name and China stuff in a cardboard box and started putting USA tools back into he box. I got through the pliers, sockets, wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, allen keys, and files.
I will get some pictures up later of the cleaned drawers and pics of the keepers.
I'd love to restore this box like some of the examples on this site, I just do not have the time right now. I just want to clean it up, lube the slides and use it for the time being.
If anyone has made it this far I'd like to thank you for reading the long post. I'd like to hear peoples opinions and get started talking about some of the tools soon.
Thanks again everyone!

Thanks guys! So majority of the sockets, wrenches, and screwdrivers are China or no name and felt like **** but I got some pics of what I did keep and organized so far. So here we go..

Here's the top drawer cleaned.

And lined.

Second drawer cleaned.

And lined. ab63776148fe6f0bb702a1176ee0282b.jpg

And that's all the liner I had laying around..

This was in the box, pretty cool. Think it'll be enough to restore it?!

So here are the pliers I'm keeping. Right side is USA for sure, left side is mostly Japan. Can someone tell me the COO of the GM performance tools??

Now to the sockets. All these in the deeper half are USA tools. I'm keeping some of the Taiwan sockets for now to have hopefully a full set but will probably toss them in the cardboard box soon too. So the sockets in the back are all standard size sockets, mostly craftsman as well as the deep sockets, those are mostly craftsman as well. The ones on the right side are all GM goodwrench USA sockets which is pretty cool. I think I have most of a 1/4 drive set.

Also there is this proto socket that I think is an extractor? If anyone knows for sure I'd love to hear it.

The 3/8 torque wrench is marked Taiwan but no maker and goes from 120 to 960 inch pounds. The 1/2 drive beam is a sears/craftsman USA that goes from 0 to 140 foot pounds.

Will continue with the wrenches..

Nice stuff so far, I see you got at least one Snap-On socket.
Thanks, so total out of all this stuff is 3 snap on pieces.. Lol I was hoping for more but it is what it is. A standard size 3/8 drive 13mm socket. A deep well 1/2 drive chrome socket that I think is 15/16, I have to double check. And a 6 inch 3/8 drive extension. That's all

GM Performance pliers are more than likely imported, but you have a few sockets that are USA, so it could all have been a set. Normally USA stuff is clearly marked USA somewhere on it.

And here are the oldies..

I think these are really cool. From left to right, first any know was ground off, don't know why someone would do that but it looks super old. The second only says drop forged. The third is marked 1945 which I think is neat. The fourth is a Bonney. The fifth is w&t, don't know anything about that maker, it has the square drive in the middle though and don't know it's purpose, maybe storage? And the last one is cool, it says Fairmount on it.

So yea that's the wrenches, to be continued..

Yea that's what I was thinking but the sockets are marked GM goodwrench while the pliers are only marked GM performance parts I believe so I'm not sold they're from a set, I could be wrong though.

Here is a pic of the screwdriver/allen key/file keeper drawer.

The round file is a wood handle Nicholson which I find nice.

Now the hammer drawer.
cea10a1915127cd9148e2e119e67f0be.jpg
So we have the Vaughn claw hammer which has a broken off claw which ***** but it'll still pound nails.. The wood handle claw hammer that I need to clean up and see if there are any marks on it. The hammer head that needs to be cleaned up and identified. And then those 2 red metalworking hammers, not sure of a brand because they are not marked but they seem nice. I think I'll keep them regardless but does anyone recognize these 2 hammers??

Thanks and to be continued..

Next is something I'm very excited about.. This box came with the emblem! A lot of the restorations of these boxes I saw on this sight the emblems are missing and I guess finding them is hard cause it seems everyone ends up putting a newer emblem on.
So here is the emblem as it came.
8397425ebeb35f5557293e029148d3ff.jpg
And here it is just cleaned up a bit.
a754dcabaf6b98255a87b384cde5946e.jpg
I really need to figure out what to use to polish it up and try to remove some of the scratches and get it to SHINE. probably a buffing bit for the dremel.
This emblem may be worth the price of the box itself..

That Proto thing is a stud extractor, and the pin in the side should hold in a couple wedges that come with it.

Altogether nice pick up!
