Just realized i made post about engine swap but forgot all about M. P. G.
Oh, about 10 estimated if driven nice but anything over 5mpg current FT will be a bonus.
It will be my drive for pleasure truck. Kinda like when others go hunting, fishing, boating, snowmobiling, skiing or any other pleasure activities i will happily fork out the $$ per smile as i cruise each mile..
Plan is if M. P. G. Is too good add a Whipple SuperCharger.

Another engine joins the rest.
Few engine spares.
Newest is a 390 that was fully rebuilt but the .030 pistons got used in another project by prior owner. I have exact new pistons sitting on shelf!
And enough other parts.
This 390 was free with free delivery from out of state.
I have 2 different pair of custom headers to fit about any of my trucks. The 427 headers would be wildest plus the solid roller cam from 427.

Decades a go I attended a automotive technology college. We were given a brand new Olds Vista Cruiser that fell off of a train. All the tires were branded with some type of iron. The instructor handed me a saw zall with the instructions to remove the roof all the down to the doors.

Randy, I would have called that a 'fully optioned' car back then. Ordered our '68 GTO with AM radio, power steering and automatic transmission. Back then, drag racers' conventional wisdom was that disk brakes introduced drag and hurt performance. I did upgrade the brake shoes to sintered iron when the originals wore out -- pretty exciting stopping before they warmed up.

A nicely optioned car. Biggest HP engine. Be nice to have 4spd but can’t complain. For sure top of food chain for ‘66 comets. Only options missing are factory AC (has monkey wards ac with invoice) and power windows. Power trunk release. But such a nice color combo and nicely optioned plus overall condition with so much documentation.
I will need to make copies of it all and put original in safe.

Just got back from 8 day vacation with 3 daughters n families plus stop to look at cyclone.
Distance traveled bit over 2400 miles.
Had a really bad case of elevation sickness for the full 8 days. Was as high as 12,200’ very little time under 7600’.

Randy, New Yorkers considered air conditioning frivolous back then. When we drove from NY to California in 1955 Dad added a cooler to the '53 Oldsmobile 98 in Arizona. It worked great chilling the side of the front seat passenger's face but the rest of the passengers sizzled. Absolutely sure the Montgomery Ward system is way more effective. I don't have a photo of the cooler on the Oldsmobile but it was one of these:

R has been shipped but the 5-6 weeks expected wait time is going to be torture!

I had a couple NOS coolers like that one but sold them a year or so ago to people in the local VW club.

Randy, if you’re not a drinking man, you should be! With the stress of the auction, frantically restoring old rigs, finding the dream car, and to top it off, 2 brand new rigs on the way…….I’d be a puddle of mush…..😨

never drank never will. I was a puddle of mush long long before ordering new rigs and having so many projects. What happens next? I just added more projects to list recently. Added more work to recent projects too. Really wish I could retire to rocking chair and stop this nonsense

WTH Randy, why you in the shop?. Throw a rod?, rust repair?, new U-joints, blinker fluid replacement- what gives bud. And I hope for your sake they didn't need to plug into your OBD port for diagnostics. :scared:

If you need something don't hesitate to ask.
