I have a 1974 16' grain dump trailer. At the very least, The 12 volt motor needs repair.

It has a 4 plus gallon reservior.

I am looking at replacing the whole thing. Where is the best place to buy a complete power unit?

I haven't found much searching.

I imagine that sharing some specs on the current setup would help. Motor wattage and pump flow rate are the first that come to mind.

I doubt they would have the best price, but I'd be looking at McMaster Carr as a starting point

Nothing available to me at the moment. I was guessing that the units on the 16 to 20' dump trailers would be pretty much all the same. Power up, gravity down.

The motor is in to a starter rebuild shop right now.

The above search for 12v hydraulic power unit returns lots of units for sale. You just have to figure out your pressure and flow requirements.

About all I know about the old one is what I posted. It'll be a while before I see it again.

I can't believe there would be much difference in pumps for a 16' dump trailer.

It has a big cylinder and reservoir so it has to have a decent flow rate.

I finally got a little more info.

The outside of the cylinder barrel measures 8" x 30". I am guessing a 7" x 24" travel?

This is a 1974 Winnebago grain dump trailer. Single acting cylinder.

The thing we do not know is what pressure it ran at. I haven't found anything in the way of a higher volume pump/ motor combo.

Most do not have a long enough duty cycle to raise the bed. 1.5 minute duty cycle seems on the high side for the pumps I looked at.

About 1 gpm at 3000 psi. 2gpm at 1000 psi and 2.9 gpm at 500 psi.

I am guessing by the size of the cylinder that it is running closer to the 500 psi range

Since my motor is bad, we can't check pressure. If my 12 volt motor wasn't bad, we wouldn't be doing anything.

I can get a new motor for about $200. Right now I am leaning towards that. And hope the pump is good. It is a 1974 model

I can get complete motor, pump, tank and control for under $450 500 PSI at 2-1/2 to 3 gpm.

I would like to find something higher volume. No luck yet.

I don't believe you'll find a high volume unit in 12v most of the time if high volume is needed they go with a PTO set up.
Is the motor just a slot drive?
I have used a cordless drill on breakdown calls to get lift gates back up you may be able to test the pump/controls that way.
