1978 Wilton vice.

I bought this vice a couple of weeks ago and plan on installing it on a shop cart. I'm just doing a basic clean-up and paint.

Not sure the make but it says 6-78 on the stamp. I took one coat of blue, one coat of red and what appears to be original silver/grayish finish off. I went ahead and primed it up.
I was wondering how to match the original paint look? I went around town looking for a hammered paint in a gray color. Sherwin williams said they could order the color I wanted in.
And what model vice is this? Also what a good price to pay for something in this condition.

Wilton 400s from what I can tell.

Price depends on area and other variable.

People have paid $5-$300+ for wilton vises.

Somebody ran out of talent while using a sawzall. If it bothers you and doesn't go into the inner cavity, fill it in with some JB Weld and then prime/paint over it.

No more cut and I doubt you will ever knock out the filler

in that condition and only one picture to look at i'm guessing $75 value. if there are welds, cracks or other defects i can't see then less. pretty interesting cut behind the anvil and not sure why somebody would be cutting something back there and not on a bench.

It does not have any impact on the operation of the vice but I will go ahead and make the patch repair.
