Who remembers the floor jacks that came in 1980s era GM cars? Maybe it was earlier. Maybe it was other brands, but I know it was early to mid 1980s GM because I remember my uncle using it on our 84 Bonneville. It was a scissor jack, but instead of a screw to drive it up and down, it had a ratcheting mechanism, similar to the high-lift or off road jacks. I think there was a lever that was flipped to determine if the jack went up or down.
i wanted to see one for some design inspiration. No one around me (they’re all younger) knew what I was talking about. My google-fu failed me.
How would I describe it compared a screw type scissor jack?
