Hi hive mind,

I have an 8x19 side room on my garage. I want to utilize it as a workshop space, and parts storage. Does anyone have a similar smaller attachment to their garage that they use for things beyond just storage? Does anyone have galleries or pics they could post or link to? I am just looking for some ideas or something to get the juices flowing.

Eight feet is pretty narrow depnding on what you work on. I would assume by the time you put a workbench and a few power tools or shelves aong the one side there isnt room for much on the opposite wall.

Hey! 4 dead and Co, 2 further, 3 rat dog, 2 other ones. Jerry died when i was 14 so i hadn't really gotten into them yet. I was an allman bros fan first (saw 20 shows), and didn't get into the dead until i was 23 (40 now). How about you?

Yeah the thought is a workbench, bench grinder, small HF sand blast cabinet, belt/disk sander and a drill press in there, and then storage for porsche parts, and non car related tools (work working and power tools). mostly a storage room, and then a room for larger tools i might not have a big footprint for in the main garage room. Also i don't really want to be grinding and drilling in the garage - so keeping the garage a clean room for more 'surgical work' and one a dirty room.

looking for some layout ideas from anyone that might have a separate smaller work space attached to their garage.

here's what I'm working with...

I'm 63, so I had a head start over you! My number is 199, but that includes Bobby shows & Jerry shows, too. Followed them around a bit during my college years...how I managed to graduate remains a mystery to me!

Don't ask.
What about making it a tool room (and maybe some materials) to free up space elsewhere?
When I was remodeling I had a space about that size i dedicated for painting, staining an finishing woodwork.

I would look at making that a storage room with shelving or file cabinets on both sides with an eye towards freeing up storage areas in the main space.

33 shows with Jerry A single 50th reunion GD concert, 25 shows with John Mayer. I just saw the Hollywood Bowl shows (Halloween weekend) and am heading to Cancun in January!!! I am hazy on how many concerts I saw in between GD and Dead and Co. Between 5-7 I'd guess. About 10 Jerry or Bobby solo gigs.
