Just moved out of my parents house and got base housing (Navy). The house I got has a 1 car garage. Still, I'm pretty excited. Nothing special and I can't modify the garage in any way, looking for advice on lighting on a budget haha. there is ONE dim bulb and it's not enough to work by.

On the cheap, go get yourself some track lighting, and install it in line with your current light. Make it into a big t, and get a bunch of track lights to put into it. They have many styles of lights now that go into track, and a starter track with three of four lights is about 30 bucks.

Even cheaper, get three y shaped light splitters, and screw two into the first one and mount four 25 watt florescent bulbs into the single socket you have now.

Even cheaper, go out and get a 300 watt incandescent bulb, and screw that in.

Thanks, didn't know they made y adapters, looks like I'll be getting a few of those!

I see a great little spot back there in the corner for a workbench.

That's the plan, going to DRMO (Cheap old military stuff) to look for a workbench soon

Already married, but the wife is forbidden in the garage. Rule #1.

Rule #2 if momma is not happy nobodys happy supercedes rule #1 lol

Rule #1 still stays, she can be happy but the garage is MINE!

By the way, anybody use LED light bulbs? Thinking of using those along with the y adapters for light in the garage.

Well, I am without a garage now. Moved out of base housing for many reasons, but the new place has no garage. I had it pretty nice too, got a good amount of work done, built a workbench, scored some free cabinets... etc. A few pictures:

14+-+1

Built the bench for free, buddy gave me the legs and the top was an old table someone tossed. Unfortunately, I couldn't fit it in the moving truck, so it had to go. Neighbor got a bitchin workbench though!

scored the cabinets for free and the cart for like $30.

I miss having a garage, got me through a lot of work that I didn't have to do in the street, A few late nights diagnosing problems, and general messing about in there. I had to fix my A/C in a parking garage at work a few days ago as it was 100+ in the sun, and I wasn't about that. Don't miss the rent though, much cheaper now.

On the plus side, next year the "Shaken Snail Speedshop" (What I've decided as the name) is going international. I'm moving to Spain! Hopefully I'll get at least a carport or something, but I plan on hitting the Nurburgring while I'm relatively close by!

I do miss having a tool cabinet, as I'm working out of this for the next year:

One of these days I'm gonna have a guy pinstripe it and get a proper photo.
