Hi guys,
Just started building my first 'proper' garage after years of thinking about it. I'm in England and will be building it from timber. I found this site purely by accident when bmwpower's build appear on a search for 'my garage'.

This morning the concrete slab was poured and the excess used to create a temporary ramp so I can drive the car onto the slab until June when me and my Dad build the framework.
It is L-shaped, and replaces the old car port/ garden shed at the bottom of the drive/ garden. It's not massive but will be more than enough to work on the VW Golf. Scissor Lift? - you betcha!
I'm a heating engineer, not a carpenter so I have a lot of questions that need answering - like building a valley in the roof, preventing water ingress between the blockwork and the bottom timber rail. I'll make a list and start a new post I think.
Anyway, the site is excellent and is going to take me all night to go through the galleries.
