Hey everybody, just had my first "shop" built. its 24' x 40' pole barn type. 6x6 posts with 2x6 runners and 4" slab. all complete..now fun part is planning the interior. i planned on sheetrocking it but i live on the water and worried about moisture / money..any ideas on the interior wall anyone?? didnt really want to go OSB. Not going to be doing everyday car building or anything like that. More for gunsmithing / car display. ive already settled on epoxy flloor..i want it to look nice but still on a budget and advise?? Use mold resistant sheetrock it will never mold and has some strength even if it gets wet.

Consider corrugated metal...the same stuff used on roofs.

thats basically what my shop is..its all treated wood framing with metal outside..thanks guys

The mold resistant sheetrock is a good idea. To save finishing it you could cover it with FRP panels that's used in commercial kitchens. Leaves a flat surface so mounting items on the walls is still easy. Corrugated metal panels would look cool and be plenty durable too.

So is the issue possible flooding or just high humidity?

no flooding..was just concerned about the humidity. I spoke with a few people in my area, they all have regulaer 1/2" sheetrock in their garages without insulation. i have that bubble wrap type so the sheetrock shouldnt be an issue correct?? id rather go with the sheetrock than just OSB or plywood.

You shouldn't have a problem with regular drywall and humidity, but if you get water then that is a different story. But if concerned, then go with the moisture resistant as suggested above. remember that quite a few bathrooms have been built using regular drywall and have not had any mold or mildew problems.

When you hit reply, scroll down to "manage attachments". Click on that then browse for your pics and click upload. That usually uploads a thumb nail. You can also put your pics on Photobucket (free version available) then link them here. On PB you just hold your mouse cursor over the pic you want and a drop down menu will appear. Click on the bottommost option and it will say "copied". Right click on your reply and hit "paste" and you got it. You will have to preview your reply to actually see the pics.

Nice shop! I would consider putting in a air condition if your concerned about moisture and if you are going to have guns in there. As for the ceiling with the spans of those trusses. You should look at a drop ceiling. Metal grids and either 2x4 or 2x2 panels.

would love the AC, just not in the budget i think. ive priced drop downs..cheapest i found installed was 2k. i went to HD and theyre 100sq' grid was like $145!
