So, First World Problems, I know, but I needed more space and had asked for ideas here, only to exhaust the room already. So adding more is the only option I think.

Anyways, I asked the county if I could exceed the 50% maximum size for an "auxiliary structure", compared to above grade square foot finished living space of the home. House has a 2 car side load garage (nothing spectacular) and I have a 3 car detached garage I built several years back.
County reviewed, and while I am ~200 sq ft. greater than the 50% with the proposed 14'x40' (1 bay, double-deep) garage addition to the right side of the detached, they felt it was reasonable and wrote a letter of approval for the concept.
2 car garage can't house lifts to stack, and the detached 3 car is full to the ceiling, so... But pretty excited, and encouraged by what seems like a solid plan and open communication with the planning / zoning commission.
Of course, adding a couple lifts to the garage addition means I can add 4 more cars. Hope my better 1/2 doesn't read this...
