I am still trying to get all my stuff together for my sub panel install. I will be running 2/0 aluminum wire 175-200 ft. It was brought to my attention that the 2/0 probably won’t fit into the lugs of the 125 AMP breaker. I thought this but just overlooked it. So my question is what are my options for connecting the 2/0 to the 100 AMP breaker in the main panel?

Have you confirmed the 2/0 wont fit? At least some 100A breakers accept 2/0 so check the specs for your breaker if you haven't already done so.

After further thought, I would imagine your panel will accept 2/0. Mine did.

I have bought crimp-on ends for 350kcmil wire to make them fit in std 200A lugs. Boy were they expensive.

Its been my experience you can often fit one size wire larger into a lug. Not saying it right... just that it often fits.
