That would be cool. I don't think you'd be able to wheel it around though. I just imagined my entire shop wall with Harbor Freight boxes linked together like a freight train with side boxes.

I've seen a few people do that, both free standing and built into a bench. Only thing I would caution you on is to check the flatness and level of the floor the entire length as otherwise it may put a bending force into the side cabinet as it will be hanging/attached to both 44" boxes.

It wont get moved much if at all. My foor isnt level but i plan to shim under where needed. Its going to be under my work bench that im gonna custom build once i get the extra box. Im kind in the middle of a mini makeover on 1 wall of my garage. Im in the middle of building 25 feet of wall cabinets with custom diamond plate covered doors and old wrenches as the knobs. Cabinets are painted red/black to match what i already have. I should have 106" of matching tool box when im done. Wife asked if she gets to put any of here hobby stuff in it. I laughed and refinshed a little tool box for her. My wife thinks im nuts. Lol

someone posted a while back using 2 side cabinets on a single 44". thought that looked pretty cool, especially if you put pegboard on the back. apparently the hanger can be put on either side, or both.

These cabinets have since been moved to a different wall so i could get my boat in the garage but gives ya an idea. The faces of the cabinets have since been painted red. Drill the holes in the wrenches ***** balls! I started welding nuts to the back of them. B much easier now.

I already have 1 44" box and 1 side box. This whole make over is on a budget and a 72 isnt in the cards but would be sweet. My wife is pushing for this to get done so i can start on our kitchen remodel. I am purposely dragging my feet cause its almost boating season. 🍺😎

I have three 44's spliced with side cabinets between. As was stated no longer can roll due to the fixed wheels. Took carefull positioning and use of a floor Jack to engage the hanging lips of the side cabinets on the 44's. Sorry no pics.

So on the bottom bank on the 44" you could move the deep drawers up to the top or middle of said bank?

Yes, you can move the drawers around like I did. Just need a few rivets and drill a few holes for the rivets on the tracks. Never got to moving the latches on the drawer backs for the locks yet...

I moved the big drawers from the top box to the bottom. Big stuff goes down low away..

Here's mine. I moved one of the deeper bottom drawers to the top on the end cabinet to make it closer match the 44's. I never understood why it doesn't already come that way? I really like how everything locks together with the supplied bolts. It would be hell to roll around, but no need or plans to try!

Look's interesting now you got me thinking one 72 with side lockers or two 44's with side cabinet in between with the side lockers on the end's.

According to HF's website, the 44" is 18.5" deep vs. 22.5" on the 72" cabinet. It may not be an issue for you, but just pointing out what is often a big issue to some users! I park both my cars in my garage, so a 22.5" depth box won't work for me.

I'd do the same if I had the 44 with a side box. I see eveeyone that has this set and never understand why they don't move those drawers. Looks so much better.

Do the locks still work after you move the drawers?

On the side cabinet, Yes! Nothing is affected by the change and takes only about five minutes to swap the drawers around! I can't say whether or not when swapping from a 44" bottom cab to a top cab?

Edit: To swap drawers around on the end cabinet, rivets and slides don't have to be removed! All slides are spaced equally, so it doesn't matter that the bottom drawers have two slides each. The bottoms just fit into the space equal to two of the smaller drawers and all slides still match up.

Does anyone know if the locks can be matched or re-keyed so you don't have to have three keys for what is essentially one big tool box?

When I owned the 44 combo I went to the locksmith with the locks and he said they were anti pick locks( or something like that ) and he would have to change the cylinders which I did. This was just my experience maybe another locksmith would be able to do it

Just a note if you are switching drawers from the top & bottom boxes the back latches for the locks are different . You will have to cut a new hole and re-revit the latches.

sorry for the crappy photos..

From what I know you can call harbor freight customer service and get a triple lock set all keyed alike. Not sure how much it cost.

If I was needing to replace my current boxes, I would be happier than a puppy dog with 2 tails with a setup like this one and Ernie Pepsi's.

That is just perfect.
My current assembly of tool boxes along one garage wall would be much better replaced by this exact setup.
Thanks to both of you for posting those pics.

I think thats a lot of nice looking uniform storage for the $$$
