Elora sells midget open end wrenches in 2.5 mm and 3mm sizes. What would you use something that small on ?

I don't think my open end wrench sets go that low, but I do have Wiha precision nut drivers that go down to 1.5mm and Wiha micro nut driver bits that go down to 2mm. I've used the really small sizes to take apart cameras. I've been able to keep a couple nice cameras working well beyond their usual life expectancy by cleaning out dirt and grime that worked its' way into the tiny moving parts. I have used them a couple times to do microscope cleaning and repair as well.

I don't have any personal experience in the following fields, but I have also seen tiny nut drivers and wrenches advertised for sale on websites and forums that cater to radio controlled car, helicopter, and plane enthusiasts. I visit those forums occasionally because they contain members familiar with sourcing good quality small tools.

I've got a 3mm Snap-On Combination wrench. Maybe an inch and a half, two inches long. Found it in the street by my house years ago. Thought it was a toy when I first saw it. Never used it for anything but jokes.

Let me ask this in a different way. What is the smallest size SAE or Metric you have used on an auto repair ?

Smallest? 4.5 mm (although I had to settle for a 7/32" socket) to remove the screws holding the crystal onto the instrument panel on a Ford Ranger.

... there's a whole world of "minature" out there -- model trains, doll houses, RC cars, ad infinitum...
You can add PCs, laptops and many other 'mid' sized electronic devices to the above. As for general vehicle work I really can't remember for sure. Maybe 3/16-1/4" or 5.5-6mm.

Years back I used some mighty small tools repairing tape decks. I used a lot of small tools working with some of the optic at work like microscopes. I've made more than a few repairs looking through a microscope. Cameras come to mind. These days it RC cars that have the small fasteners. There is a whole big world out there that uses tools for non-automotive work.

4 mm hex socket that I used on some e-torx bolts that held the electrical part of the antilock brake module on my Toyota Camry. I don't have any e-torx sockets, the hex socket I used turned the bolts.

Screen graphic machines from Japan uses lots of tiny fasteners which are only accessible with a low profile bit ratchet or mini wrench.
