I’ve got some down time at work so I wanted to go ahead and start this thread and lay out my goals for reorganizing my 2 Car garage. I’ll post the few pictures I have saved on my phone to help paint the picture. I’m gonna have to get creative and will need all the help I can get so please chime in with ideas/advice. This will be long winded so I’ll start off with a cliff notes version.
I’m reorganizing my garage, to be able to park my wife’s tahoe, my car, and be able to pull them out and have my welding/fab stuff setup in 10-15 min.
TL,DR version
The end goal is to be able to, 1. Have room for my wife to park. 2. Have room to park and work on my car. 3. Be able to pull the cars out and have my 4x8 welding table and my band saw, setup and ready to go in 10-15 minutes.
#1 is the easiest part. She could park in there now if it wasn’t such a mess from some home improvements we just finished.
#2 is gonna be where I have to get creative because there’s not room for the 4x8 table and the car. I’ve got a few different ideas. I could rebuild the existing table, make the legs fold up, and secure it to the wall somehow for storage. Or I could build a new smaller table, 2x8 with another removable 2x8 section. So when not being used in the 4x8 configuration it can be stored against the wall and used as a Work bench. Another possible option is to just leave the table alone and keep it at my dads house when I don’t need it.
#3 I do some wrought iron work on the side. Mostly handrails and mailboxes. I pretty much just do this work as it finds me so it’s very sporadic, months will go by that I don’t need the big table. It takes a good hour to get all my stuff setup before I can actually work. 30 minutes of that is usually finding various tools.
I plan on starting this process Saturday with the goal for the day being to get the Tahoe and Camaro in there. I’ll put the welding table on my trailer and store it in the backyard for now.
here’s some random pics I have on my phone so you can get an idea of what I’m working with till I can get some current pictures. And of my truck and the car that will be in the garage. Some of them are screenshots from my instagram.
