Been in my house a little over a year now, and after helping a friend remodel his garage in a similar fashion, I'm finally working on mine. Started out as a standard 20'x19' 2 car garage with 4 bare sheetrock walls and a door.

I had put up some shelves at the height of the garage rails inbetween them and the walls, 2 ft wide. They really helped us get a lot things we had cluttering the house and the garage up out of the way.

New work included extending the shelves to the front wall, wiring shelves for 4 light fixtures, new power line with 6 outlets from new 20A breaker, and surround sound for stereo, building cabinets underneath (one for stereo, one for storage), sheetrock, mud, tape & sand, put up backing for pegboard, paint, put up light fixtures... etc.

There's more but I'm getting exhausted just thinking about it. Here's some pics:

I really like the idea of wrapping the shelves in sheetrock.

They look like they were always there.

Nice design work. That shelf-along with the extra lights under it-will come in handy!
Welcome!

Ok, so I finally feel like I am getting closer. Got the pegboard up this weekend, which was huge, because I was getting really tired of the mess in the middle of the floor. I also got the painting on the side walls done (mostly). I'll have to retape and paint some areas of the stripe where the paint pulled off with the tape. Other than that, it's shaping up nicely, and I'm hoping to have my workbench done soon also - but just glad I can push it against the wall right now, and get our cars in.

Here's a few pictures (it's a complete mess right now, everything is covered in drywall sanding dust, and I need to reorganize and clean up)

Thanks Rick - I ended up going a lot farther than I thought for pegboard, but the Lowes in my area didn't stock it anymore.

I should give credit to my neighbor, of whom most of the good ideas in the garage came from. Good to have creative friends...

UPDATE: 2 Car Garage in progress

Just a quick update - got the floor done this last week. Went with blue, think it turned out pretty well.
