2 car garage layout

First off I love this forum. I have found a plethora of information.
I am remodeling my 2 car garage and have a layout question.

I have a 1 piece steel 16 foot garage door. It is insulated and in good working
order. I have 1 foot on either side of the door opening to give the garage width
18 feet wide. The length of the garage is 24 feet.
I am wanting to make my garage into a working shop. I have purchased 14
Lowes brand wall cabinets ( thanks Garage Forum). I have a fairly big Snap On tool box also.

When completed I want a "emergency" 2 car garage but intend to use it for just one car.
Emergency meaning, I need the availability to put the second car in when a hail
storm or tornado shows up. ( I live in Dallas TX.)

What is the basic measurement needed for entry and exit of the car in the garage? Is there a average area needed for each car? I want to build
the garage for basically 1 car in the middle but 2 car when needed.
I am searching for an outdoor shed to hold all the "non car" stuff, ie: mower, weed whacker, paint cans etc. The work bench in the front of the garage will be removed and something new installed. I have included a couple of pictures
to show the overall size I am working with. Please excuse the mess, it's the maids decade off.

AV8R I would put them as high up and as far back as I could in that space although the mandoor leading into the house is going to screw you on one side pretty much. The reason for going as high as you can is so that if you actually have to get 2 cars in you should be able to drive in under the cabinets as long as the wife doesnt drive a Hummer or Suburban :D. I will add I dont know how big your nado's get out there but here in Louisville ,Ky. I might worry about getting cars in from a hail storm but any Tornado that can hurt my cars will most likely remove them from the garage anyways :D.

Thanks Rick,
I will fill the end of the garage with all the cabinets.
The right side of the garage will be my Split Mint AC system.
It is going to be 6 feet off the ground so plenty of room there.

I think I am going to leave the right side blank.
That way I can nose a car in and be inches from the side wall
and get out the drivers door.

My tool box must go on the nose of the garage because of the
depth and height of the box.

I also need to come up with a work bench also.
