It's about time I get around to posting my garage in here. First, thanks to all the members that have posted before me. I know what to look for when I'm buying my first home.

This is my second rental home (Moved a month ago) The trick with a rental is NOTHING can be perminant, kinda tough when I want to run more outlets, lights, buy a 220 welder etc.

I'm 24, Single, and have to make do with this smaller than my previous 2 car for two years before I plan on buying my first home. I have one project - My '00 Dakota R/T. Most of the older tools you see, and the wurlitzer, I inherited from my dad when he passed.

On to the pictures... Sorry they're all from my phone

Just Moved In.

I wasn't sure how much room I had, So I went with a different layout than my previous setup. This turned out not possible as the garage just isn't deep enough and wide enough for my liking.

Crappy Shelves - To be Removed. Take note of the wiring for the outside garage lights. Not sure if the owner installed these himself, but I'd be afraid to post a pic of the wirenuts at the opposite end of this line!

Bought two sections of Gorrilla Rack from lowes for $150 each while in the old house. The first set came with wood shelves.. they cheapened up within the months time frame, and I got wire shelves with the second set.

Here you can see my thought on organizing this side of the garage as a working area, with the other purely for parking. But the door, and garage size itself makes this pointless

Here you can see the new setup (same as old house just less space). The owner also supplied hurricane plywood for the house. (see first few pics on right side of the wall) I was told this couldn't live anywhere but the garage so behind the racks it goes! Also take notice of the Bicentennial Celebration of the Revolution flag from '76 those of you trying to guess - 10 years before I was born.

My New workspace I gained by moving my Grill to the backyard on the deck. Next is the lawn equipment!

And the workbench across the garage. I bought the Bench, and all the diamondplate cabinets as a set on clearance for under $100!

Here are a few random pictures. This is the Band Saw, I decided to open it and found a sweet surprise! I have memories of sitting under this thing while dad was working.

The Wurlitzer. I think its a 1960 Model 2400. I hope to have it restored one day.

And a better picture of the Flags. The American flag is from when dad retired after 20 years in the Navy.

Its coming along nicely. I bet those mud dobbers made a home in the Jukebox as well. Good to see other Houstonians working the garage along with the heat

Actually no,

The tools were in my fathers non climate controlled shop for years. The Jukebox has actually always been inside until I had to move it to the garage.

I'll shoot some pictures of it and throw em up.

I see you are in katy too. Love it here.

I agree; nice layout and organization. Ya did good.

Take good care of that Wurlitzer. That's a great piece; extra special considering it was your Dad's.

It is special, saving the money now to make it a working piece again. would be nice to watch the mechanism do it's thing.

Im in the same boat with a rental garage.. nice use of space!
***** when you cant rewire or anything..

yup. I'm currently limited to the point everything I do with my small compressor has to be planned on how to power it...

i'v been working out of small shops that i couldn't re-wire for years. if you need 220v the easiest place to get it is usually the drier. i've been running my welder off drier outlets since i got it. just make a 220v extension cord and swap back to the drier when you need it. you could use the same logic to get more 120v circuits out there too. find a circuit in the house that's near the garage that you don't use much and run an extension out to the garage. if you have access to the attic this gets even easier since you can poke the extension through the ceiling in the corner of a closet and run it into the garage through a similar small hole in a corner somewhere.

keep posting about rental garages. i love the ingenuity needed to make them work for what we use them for.
