So I think the max psi before it stops is 150?
But sometimes when using air impact I feel it lets the psi get too low before kicking in
How best to adjust that so it stays at a higher psi

You using a pancake compressor? Kidding.
Your pressure switch my be going out. No reason your compressor should use that much air on an impact unless you're doing a fleet of trucks. 20 ugga duggas and your done.

Need details....what pressure are you running your tools at and what is the cut-in pressure?

What is the pressure relief valve rating?
Size of tank?

Tank says 135 max
I’m running 1/2” impact at that pressure but it drops to below 100 before it kicks back on
Too wide of a spread

some pressure switches have an adjustment for pressure differential ( cut out & cut in pressure)
usually a small screw recessed on the top of the switch body. may have a glob of epoxy or something ontop

I just talked to Condor the mfg
This one you have to up the Hi pressure to raise the low number
So he said set it to stop at 150 and start at 100
That’s what I did ..
My CP impact says 90psi max but I’ve always just used the full air and never regulated it down 🧐

Make sure you get a Kevlar flak vest for that compressor if you’re running a pressure higher than the manufacturer designed it for.

This one goes with the thread currently running about disconnecting safeties on a tractor.or mower.

Frankly, I’m surprised the manufacturer actually gave you instructions on how to adjust the switch Out of the preset value. He’s opened himself up to a claim if something goes terribly wrong and your widow or insurance company goes after them.

Yea the tanks are tested at 3 times the rated value according to the mfg number one
Also there is a max pressure release if the switch fails

yes, but how old is the tank? what condition is it in? there's a lot of factors above just turning the pressure up.
I am also very surprised the manufacturer gave you that information .

I bought the compressor new from Lowe’s
I think about 15 yrs ago
I let the water drain out every other time I use it
Always been inside
No rust at all out side and the water is clear when it drains
But that’s all I know

It’s actually cutting off at like 140
There is a working relief valve too
Not sure what pressure that blows off at
So do people just junk compressors after so many years ?

So I just looked
The tank is dated 2004 but looks brand new
The water that comes out the bottom drain is clear
