Hi guys...anyone know of anyone making a good quality 2 drawer portable toolbox? I've been looking for a good quality used one for a while now without any luck. A 3 drawer would also work. I wasn't impressed with the Craftsman one at Lowes or the Husky one at Home Depot. I have a Kennedy cantilever, but am thinking a 2 drawer would work out a little better for me. Thanks!

There was an older black wrinkle craftsman series that had the 2 drawer and 3 drawer versions.
Very well made and last a long time

Thanks for the replies guys! The kennedy definitely looks good!! I have seen a couple nice vintage ones online. I will be on the lookout for a kennedy and if anyone has any other suggestions, I would appreciate it!

I always found the 2 drawer and three drawer tool boxes to a bit lacking. Years ago in the 1970's these boxes were all over and ended up being way overloaded as the years go by. I mean for the average do it your self person you get a few tools. Yeah the basics hammers screwdrivers and a few sockets. Then as the years go by you buy a few tools here and you get gifts of tools here and there. It happens actually really quickly you will out grow the basic 2 drawer with all the wasted space in the bottom. I am not impress with those as much as maybe looking a tool cart from Harbor Freight as they just introduced the series 2 four drawer tool cart for $179.00. I think that would be really the cats meow as if you do out grow it you can still keep it and get a bigger box. Then when you a few tools take what you need out of the bigger box and load it on the tool cart and wheel it where you need it.

That was the rally box. I have one and it is stout. I also have a standard issue 3 drawer craftsman box and the difference is night and day.

Good to know about the rally box...will keep an eye out for that too...I can't believe it has been this hard to find a nice one.

The comment about, "man that two-drawer sure-got heavy!" I find is an issue. I've picked-up a few of the roughly 18"-19" Craftsman toolboxes, w/the removable tray in the top. I also have a larger old Craftsman grey 2-drawer which I use for in-the-house tools, so I don't have to go to the garage. I have it on a furniture dolly, one of those shorter ones which can also be a 4-wheeled cart. It fits in a closet.

I also have a red Craftsman 2-drawer for pliers and screwdrivers (mostly duplicates), and miscellaneous small tools, and it's also heavy when full, though I don't have to move it. I bought it new probably 30 years ago.

I've thought of using some nylon strap, like seatbelt material, to make an over-the-shoulder strap to make it easier to carry a fully-laden Craftsman top-handle toolbox. I don't need-to carry one very-often, but when you did, it would be much-easier.You could through-bolt or pop-rivet a pair of brackets onto the ends of the toolbox for the strapping, or you could attach the webbing directly to the box using the same method. I was thinking of a removable strap, though.

Sears sells a blow-molded grey toolbox, long, low, and pretty-wide, for a 'behind the p-u truck seat' (or under it) toolbox. I used one of those for many years, though I rarely used the top-of-the-toolbox handle, I'd carry it at the ends, because full of tools, I didn't trust the plastic handle to safely-carry the load.

The kennedy from zoro looks like the route I will go if nothing else shows up...I have one of the plastic under seat craftsman boxes now...just not enough storage for me...I will probably be complaining the 2 drawer is too heavy, but I think I "need" one...
