should both units be in the middle stall pointing out or should they be in opposite corners? also should they be next to the roll up doors or on the side attached to the house. If it matters most of the work will be on the two side stalls. the wife's car will probably stay in the middle. Thanks

Others will be replying on your question and can give you info on placement and numbers. I would think from some of the posts I have seen you would be able to install just 1 heater and get good results.
I am in the process of installing this same heater in a 2 car size shop, no cars parked in it. I do have the install manual as a PDF file on home computer that I can email later on if interested.

I would install them in the corners where they predominantly point in the general direction of the work areas. With some extra cord on them, they can swivel and cover the whole area. They will blow heated air at least 16'. Which end would be a toss up - I'd go for the house end I think, but looking at what might be minimum runs for the power feed. Don't think it matters - mine is mounted near the overhead door. I chose that because it was close to the breaker box and pointed the unit towards the work areas (tool box, bench, lathe, etC)

I have a g73 in a 400 sq foot 2 car with 11ft ceilings with 2 insulated walls. it heats up the garage within 10 mins and has no trouble maintaining heat, in fact it will shut off for 10 mins, then kick on for 2 mins... etc. Not sure if you'd need two.

Good point- I have mine in a 300 sq foot room and that thing will run you out in no time! Heats it up in nothing flat. Mine is only 15x20 with 9' ceiling and all walls/ceiling insulated.
I called the place I bought my g73 from and they told me as long as I was just heating my 1200 square feet (rest of garage) to 50-60 degrees from time to time, and mainly keeping it at 35-40 all the time. ONE is all I would need. In this case, if I was you I would mount it so that it is blowing (on/towards you) where you think you will spend most of your time while in there.

My attached 3+ car garage is 1100+ sq ft w/13 ft height. It is well insulated but a single 75K dayton unit is more than I've ever needed to get it as warm as I can stand when it's 20 below outside.

When we were installing forced air heat in our house, the HVAC guy wanted the registers to be under the windows. He said that the colder air by the window would be mixed with the hotter air, and would therefore heat the room better. I think the theory was that the cold air would be warmed up before it could create a cold pocket in the room.
Following that theory, maybe installing your units near the garage door (vs. near the house which would be warmer) might be the way to go.

Is the g75 2 or 3 times that of a g73?
I misread and thought you were talking about some brand of 73k bthu heater. Mine is a 75K btu gas unit and I see now a g73 is a much smaller (17K) electric unit. My mistake.
