I've been lurking for a while here, and decided to post some ideas I have for my shop and get some feedback. Seems like a great bunch here so I thought I'd add a place to share my garage and maybe get some feedback. I look forward to sharing and hope you enjoy it.

Looks really great in concept, but I question it in reality. With 14ft walls your mezanine might end up a little low on the ceiling height but it would be mostly buld storage anyway wouldn't it? I would think you want to keep the work space on the ground floor. With that and budget/time in mind a simple concrete floor seems like a more realistic answer. To me the building screams for concrete followed by tons of pallet racking to maximize that virticle space. Seems like the big building could be storage as the smaller detached garage looks easier and cheaper to finish as a work space. Just my thoughts. Looks like a tremendous project with tons of potential.

The garage condo build is a superb execution of an excellent concept. I am just trying to find a cheaper easier way. What about a redesign of one truss. It looks like they are about 6' apart so a redesign of one could get you a vaulted ceiling with 12' of space available for the mezzanine. Partially I have issues with going lower with the floor based upon my location, we get wet here, water drainage is the first concern when planning a building, we don't have basements in houses in large part because they would constantly have water issues. I have trouble with the pit concept, let alone a pit in a basement (lowered floor), to me it looks like it would be a pool but likely not where you are at.

Thanks for the tip on stevesnovasite. When I get into the rebuild, I'm sure I'll be spending some quality time there! The Nova will be my first attempt at a restoration and frankly I'm a bit unsure if I'll be able to do the work. :dunno: It's in a sorry state right now. I'll try to post some more pics of the Nova and the Ventura this weekend.

i thought maybe i misunderstood what you were saying:lol_hitti yeah steves is a great site just like this with guys wanting to help:thumbup: my 73 is my first restore as well im going with a pro_touring style car gonna be lots of fun.buts its very slow going cause of funds i like the venturas a lot as well

Be sure to check with your insurance company before you pull the trigger on having a pit in your garage:thumbup:

Just saw this thread for the first time, a little late to the party. Love those garage sketches you posted. Very innovative.
