I figured I would start another thread instead of adding this to the kitchen sink thread

I have two more rooms with fluorescent light fixtures that I’m going to replace then the whole house will be all LEDs

1) 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 laundry room with washer and dryer. 8ft ceilings. Currently has 2 foot two lamp fluorescent fixture

2) 12 x 12 right now just a tv small sofa and a couple small cabinets. Currently has a 4 foot two lamp fluorescent fixture
I’m going to try to put the link that I have found that I think might work. They are max light two and 4 foot fixtures utility wraparound
I’m not sure what size lamps to put in them for the correct amount of light
Thanks

Are you happy with the current lighting levels? What bulbs are in the existing fixtures?

For any living spaces, I almost always install dimmers. My laundry room, pantry and main hall way are the only rooms without them.

I won’t need any dimmers
Was hoping someone could suggest what lumen bulbs for the specific size rooms I have
The 12x12 also has 8’ ceilings
The 2’ has 2 20 watt fluorescent and the 4’ has 2 40 watt fluorescent lamps
I don’t know if they are the correct ones for the room sizes
Only thing I can say is they aren’t too bright
I don’t know how many lumens the lights I have are putting out
Whatever that number is I would say it could be the same or a smidgen brighter

In your laundry area, I would go with a surface mount LED fixture. the price on these has dropped in the last years. Your big box stores have a decent selection on these. If you went with something about 3 or 4 ft long, it would be more than enough light. LEDs come in different lamp colors. This is just my opinion, but I like the 2700k or the 3000k, the second being a tad whiter. As far as the other room, I like recessed lighting, 4 of them would be perfect, with LED trims. But that would require more work than just replacing fixtures. Don't know what your skills are, or if you would have to hire it out. Just to say something about dimmers, they are great, I install them all the time for customers. But I always tell them, the highest setting on a dimmer is still not as bright as if the dimmer was not in the circuit. Hope this makes sense. The highest setting on a dimmer will not give you 120 volts out, it will be a little less. This is how the dimmer company's claim that they can save you money right off the bat by installing there product.

Your 40w lamps are delivering approximately 1500 lumens each, depending on their age. If they're new, then probably around 2000 lumens each. Your 20w lamps are delivering between 600 and 900, again...depending on their age.
4' LED tubes are available in a large variety of lumen packages. Typical for 8' ceilings is 1650 lumens. Then they step up to 2000, then 2500, then higher.
2' LED tubes are less common and have fewer choices.
