Im getting ready to build a new barn, half storage building/ half indoor basketball court.

The side pictured with two doors is 50 deep x 30 wide. My tractor, impliments, mowers, and enclosed trailer will be housed in this side. I currently have it laid out with twin 12x14 OHDs. Does anyone have any thoughts about using 2 doors vs 1 wide door. Ive never owned a door over 12' wide so im not sure of the drawbacks. I would need a 20 to 24' W door if went a single i would think.

I like 2 doors myself. They sort of self define 2 separate "bays" vs a monster bay and big wide doors seem to be more troublesome.

Me personally I would go with what you have in the drawing. I feel that to many buildings are over doored and that one door eventually get blocked by stuff on the inside and becomes lost wall space. I've also read many posts here from those who have problems with big doors. The only reason that I would have for a wide door is if I had a bad approach to the building and had to turn sharp and use the width of the door for maneuvering to get in the building. If clear space to the front is big enough to get your rig straight to the opening then a two door setup should work fine. You can see my two door setup below.

If you are planning on ever installing an electric door opener, I would look into what the maximum door size the opener can handle. Some may be too heavy

My last shop had an Amarr 18x9 with jackshaft operator. That's the biggest door I have experience with.
